Coach David Mackey would like to congratulate his players on their performance on Tuesday October 7th in the District tournament held at Fairfield Bay! England Boys were awarded the Overall Boys Champions for the 2nd consecutive year! England edged out Viola by 1 point to be named Champions! All of my teams performed really well in the district tournament. Both of my boy doubles teams made it to the Finals! We took 9 players to the District tournament and 7 of our 9 qualified for the state tournament to be held on Monday October 13th and Tuesday October 14th at Allen Park in Jonesboro, Arkansas.

Here is a little run down of the tournament:

Girls Singles: Camarii Jackson won her first match Vs Shirley 6-1, 6-0. She lost her 2nd round match vs Carlisle 0-6, 4-6. She competed hard all day!

Boys Singles: Collin Kinsey won his first round match over Carlisle 6-4, 6-3. He lost his 2nd round match to the #1 seed from Sacred Heart 0-6, 0-6. He also played well the entire day. Caleb Hillis won his first match vs Shirley 6-3, 6-4. He won his 2nd match vs Sacred Heart in 3 sets 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 This Qualified Caleb for the State Tournament. He lost in the semi final round to Viola 0-6, 2-6. He lost the 3rd place game 4-6, 4-6. Caleb has worked extremely hard this year to punch his ticket to the State tournament.

Girl Doubles: Jayla Parker and Kamon Raynor worked very hard all season and entered the tournament as the #1 seed. They won heir first match vs Shirley 7-5, 6-4. This qualified them for the state tournament. They lost the semi final round in 3 sets to Viola 3-6, 7-5, 3-6. They lost the 3rd place game to Carlisle 0-6, 1-6. These girls battled hard all day long! They will make their first trip to the state tournament!


Boys Doubles: Dane Martin and Marvin Parks punched their ticket to the State Tournament for back to back seasons. Dane and Marvin beat Carlisle 6-0, 6-1in the quarterfinals. They defeated Sacred Heart in the semi finals 6-0, 6-1. They faced their teammates (Jaylen Graham and Tres Chaten) in the finals! Several of the sets went 40-40 and it was great competition for both teams! Dane and Marvin lost, but were still Conference Runner Up!

Jaylen Graham and Tres Chaten completed the season undefeated in Conference and were named District Tournament Champions! Jaylen and Tres defeated Westside 6-4, 6-1 in the quarterfinals. They defeated Viola in the semi finals 6-3, 7-5. They faced their teammates (Dane Martin and Marvin Parks) in the finals. Each team played very hard and had several good rallies. Jaylen and Tres won the match and were named District Champions!


I am extremely proud of all of our tennis players and how hard they have worked all year! We are looking forward to the STATE TOURNAMENT!
